The motion, put forward by Councillors Dale Bass and Bill Sarai, reflects a statement from the Premier which calls for the creation of involuntary care centres for people living with mental health and addiction issues throughout the province and to create these facilities within correctional centres in the province.

    On Monday evening, Kamloops RCMP officers responded to a Sahali motel after a man went to the hospital with stab wounds. On April 14, 2025, around 5:45, police went to Royal Inland Hospital in response to the report. It was there that they discovered a victim who had allegedly been assaulted with a weapon. The incident had occurred in the 500-block of Columbia Street West.

    The Propolis Cooperative Housing Society says it has reached a milestone in its quest to raise money to build a cooperative housing development in Kamloops. The society says it has successfully raised $1.1 million from 101 different investors to advance its 53-unit affordable, net-zero housing building on at 422-424 Tranquille Road. Propolis Executive Director Lindsay Harris calls it a huge success and notes that this is the first community bond campaign that’s been run in Western Canada.

    A new pilot project has been launched by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District to help people properly dispose of their old books. Starting on Tuesday, April 15, in partnership with Planet Earth Recycling, the TNRD will have book recycling available at both the South Thompson Eco-Depot and the Westwold Transfer Station. Books will be accepted in any condition, free of charge. Planet Earth Recycling will collect all books at these facilities to be sorted for reuse, donation, or recycling.

    One of the board trustees with the Kamloops Thompson School District is planning to bring foward a motion to attempt to save some money and possibly some jobs. The board was presented with a draft budget that proposes about 77 teaching and support staff jobs to be cut in order to help balance the finances for 2025-26. Trustee Jo Kang says he is has an idea that he think could make a difference.
