The province is urging ranchers and farmers to register the location of their livestock ahead of wildfire season. It says registering with Premises ID will ensure emergency responders have access to accurate information on livestock locations in the event of an emergency. That would allow emergency responders to act quickly during events such as evacuations or disease outbreaks. The ministry says registering for Premises ID is mandatory in B.C., but is both free and confidential.

During a presentation to Kamloops City Council on Tuesday, it laid out its objective. Leslie Brochu is the President of the group. The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is releasing images of two suspects who allegedly robbed a person, then tried, but failed to steal their vehicle Sunday morning. Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for garbage-can fire starters, following a series of small blazes discovered this weekend. On Monday May 5, 2025, around 12:45 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received reports of multiple garbage can fires located on the 300-block of Seymour Street and 500-block of Victoria Street. Police officers patrolled the area for suspects, while Kamloops Fire and Rescue dealt with the flames.
TNRD launches FireSmart rebate program

In an effort to encourage more homeowners to fire smart their properties, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has launched a rebate program. Property owners in Electoral Areas will be eligible for a rebate of up to 50% of the value of the work up to a maximum of $500. Rebates can cover actual costs incurred for mitigation work and/ or costs of labour by the homeowner. TNRD Spokesperson Colton Davies says fire mitigation work must be completed within 1.5 metres of their home.
