    At the Getty Villa Museum in the Pacific Palisades, crews have been preparing for its reopening months after the Palisades Fire forced the property to temporarily close.  Since the fire, staff have removed more than 1,300 damaged trees, deep cleaned indoor and outdoor spaces, replaced air and water filters and flushed its water system. Fortunately, none of the buildings were damaged, but the community was still significantly affected.

    Homeless in Los Angeles for the better part of 20 years, Anthony Rodabaudh may not have a roof over his head, but he still has a lot of pride. Three times a week, he goes to a mobile shower in the Westlake District.  "I don't want to offend people," Rodabaudh said. Eight trailers similar to the one Rodabaudh uses serve a part of the city with a large homeless population.

    The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is on pace to have a record amount of overtime spending, surpassing last year's mark of nearly $500 million. "Our employees are working more overtime," Sheriff Robert Luna said. Concerns have been raised after Deputy Daniel Chavira died in a multi-car crash near Santa Clarita. The 21-year-old's union said he was going home after a double shift at the North County Correctional Facility.

    An owner of a sneaker store in Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade shot and killed an alleged robber Sunday night. The Santa Monica Police Department said the deadly encounter happened during an after-hours private shopping session with a customer at Sole and Laces. Minutes after the appointment began, a second man barged through the back door. Police said the suspect "assaulted the business owner with some kind of chemical irritant," before a struggle ensued.

    City leaders pushed back against Mayor Karen Bass' proposal to cut more than 400 civilian positions at the Los Angeles Police Department, raising concerns that it could worsen the budget crisis and impact public safety. Amid a $800 million budgetary shortfall, Bass presented her proposal for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, outlining 1,647 layoffs and removing 1,074 vacant positions. While sworn officers would not be impacted, the budget called for the elimination of 409 civilian positions.
