JENKS, Okla. — It has been one month since the smoldering fire at Gem Dirt in Jenks. Smoke impacted hundreds in Jenks and surrounding areas. The Oklahoma Department of Mines (ODM) issued two violations to the business. The fire started on March 17 and was officially out on March 28. The report from ODM came out April 2. The first violation found there were large stockpiles of combustible material with no signs posted to warn people against smoking and open flames.

A homicide suspect wanted in connection with two shooting deaths is headed back to Tulsa with federal agents to face his charges. Mexican Federal Police arrested Angel Ibarra in Mexico. He's in custody at Fort Worth and federal agents are in the process of bringing him back to Tulsa. Ibarra, along with two others, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill.

OKLAHOMA — Lineman Appreciation Day is on April 18 and Public Service Company of Oklahoma lineworkers are celebrating all week. Each day is different in the life of a PSO lineman. One day they might do underground work and the next day they might do overhead work. Joseph Pass is a working foreman who has been with PSO for 18 years. He has been deployed multiple times as mutual aid to other states. He and his crew recently went to Virginia.
$50 million north Tulsa apartment building nears completion

TULSA, Okla. — A new apartment building in north Tulsa is closer to completion. Phoenix at 36 North broke ground in June 2024 at the intersection of 36th Street North and North Peoria Avenue. When it's done, it will be made up of 545 mixed-income housing units. Ginny Hensley, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at Tulsa Housing Authority (THA), said 36N is the authority's biggest and boldest project yet.

City of Owasso discusses storm shelter registration

OWASSO, Okla. — The City of Owasso is encouraging residents to register their storm shelters. Wednesday's tornado in Owasso damaged nearly 300 homes and businesses. If a similar storm happens again, firefighters want to be sure to locate residents in their storm shelters to make sure their OK. Since the tornado, 66 homes have registered their storm shelter. More than 500 homes are registered that were in the storm's path. There are more than 1,300 storm shelters registered citywide.
Construction resumes on I-44 and Highway 75 interchange Monday

TULSA, Okla. — It’s been called Traffic Henge, Tulsa Stonehenge, the highway to nowhere and goal post plaza. Monday begins the final phase of construction. This Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) project is their most expensive project in the state to date at $252 Million. “All of the piers right there, the traffic henge that everybody likes to call them, those are going to be completed and they’re going to have flyover ramps and everything,” said spokesperson for ODOT, TJ Gerlach.

OWASSO, Okla. — Adena Delaney and her husband, Mark, are relieved after Wednesday morning's storm in the El Rio Vista neighborhood in Owasso. “It was on our house probably like when we heard the noise. It was on us when we heard it. We were asleep,” said Adena. “We have a lot of damage and it’s crazy and scary and the water’s coming in your house.""I was in the bathroom. I didn't hear any sirens or anything. I just heard a horrible noise and then the sound of water leaking into our house,” said Mark.
