    WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The iconic Black Lives Matter mural near the White House, a powerful symbol of protest and racial justice since 2020, is being removed under an order from Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser. Crews began work Monday erasing the massive yellow lettering that stretched across two city blocks on 16th Street NW. The mural, painted in June 2020 amid nationwide demonstrations following the police killing of George Floyd, became a global symbol of the movement.
