    Developers of Oceanfront Squamish, Matthews West, are in the early stages of creating another oceanfront community in Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island. The project recently passed a significant milestone with the signing of the Somass Lands master development agreement. The agreement, signed  April 8, is between the City of Port Alberni and Matthews West Developments Ltd. (Matthews West).

The local represents 1,400 camp hospitality workers in B.C.The MV Isabelle X is a converted cruise ship housing about 600 workers who are building the Woodfibre LNG export facility on the shores of Howe Sound, approximately seven kilometres west-southwest of downtown Squamish.

    It was a youth-led night full of good vibes all around. The Squamish Youth Council took over the Brackendale Art Gallery: Café & Culture Centre on Sunday, May 4, for Youth Excellence Night. The council is made up of youth aged 12 to 18  who meet monthly with members of the Squamish council.

Greg McAuley spotted this bear rooting around in someone’s bins this week. Bears are most active from spring through fall in Squamish. As the District of notes, “bears are opportunistic omnivores and will return time and time again to a readily available food source.
