A BC Supreme Court judge in Prince George acquitted a Kwadacha man of second degree murder on June 17 because he was too drunk to form the intent to kill his wife. But Justice Sandra Sukstorf found Brent Angus McCook guilty of manslaughter, because it was beyond reasonable doubt that he fired the shots at the vehicle in which Rochelle Poole was sitting on Jan. 24, 2023.

British Columbia's Civil Resolution Tribunal has dismissed a claim from a woman who sought $5,000 in damages from her ex-partner for showing sexual images of her to her employer. The decision posted Tuesday says the woman sent her then-partner photos and videos of herself exposing body parts and engaging in sexual acts that were taken at her workplace during business hours.

The latest statistics from the BC Coroners Service show that 165 people died in April. That equates to 5.5 deaths per day. The vast majority of those killed by toxic drugs so far this year have been between the ages of 30 and 59 (68%) and 77% were male.

The BC Wildfire Service is looking at every way to prevent wildfires and fight them once they start. BCWS sent two team members to Sacramento, California June 8 to 10 to take part in a night aerial firefighting training exercise. Aviation Specialist J.J. Lum and staff development officer Laura Creighton spent three days learning alongside Cal Fire crews. Cal Fire operates one of the world’s leading night aerial firefighting programs using helicopters.
