FARIBAULT, Minn. — The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Rice County between Faribault and Kenyon as severe storms pushed across southern Minnesota on Monday. "We have confirmation of preliminary damage rating of at least EF-1 with the Rice County tornado that touched down east of Faribault and west of Kenyon in MN," NWS Twin Cities posted on X.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota DNR EagleCam fans have spotted a special guest star on the livestream this month. A female mallard has taken up residence in the eagle's nest and is currently incubating her eggs there. According to the DNR, the duck was first seen in the nest on April 13, with eggs spotted a few days later. The mallard's arrival restores activity on the EagleCam livestream after the original eagle pair relocated to a different nest last month.

MINNEAPOLIS — A century-old city park in south Minneapolis is getting a new name. On Thursday, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) voted to strip the name "Sibley" from Sibley Park and its facilities and tentatively rename the site as 40th Street Park. The park, located at East 40th Street and Longfellow in Minneapolis, was purchased by the city in 1922. One year later, it was named for Gen.

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minnesota woman has pleaded guilty in a social security fraud scheme that lasted more than a quarter of a century, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota. Federal prosecutors said Mavious Redmond, 54, of Austin, Minnesota, continued to collect her deceased mother's social security retirement benefits for 25 years after her mother's death in January 1999, collecting more than $360,000 in payments.
