STOCKTON, Calif. — The University of the Pacific in Stockton is expanding its athletics department, bucking a national trend of colleges cutting sports programs due to budget constraints. The additions will take effect in the 2025–26 academic year. With the changes, Pacific will field 19 Division I sports programs and expects a net gain of 82 student-athletes.

STOCKTON, Calif. — As temperatures rise this summer, some Stockton residents may have fewer options to cool off in city pools. Four of Stockton’s six public swimming pools are currently closed for renovations and maintenance, according to a news release from the city. Brooking Park Pool and Holiday Park Pool remain open for public use on weekdays and weekends throughout the summer.

Located at Southside Park on 2107 6th Street, the pool is scheduled to open on June 14. The pool closed in summer 2022 for surface renovations. Its fiberglass had deteriorated over time, prompting a full resurfacing project and additional upgrades. Renovation included new tiles, pool markings, depth markers, rope anchors, main drain covers, wall inlets and other fitting covers.

The city of Sacramento says all city-owned pools are expected to be open for the 2025 summer season. "A lot of people are disappointed because they'd been planning visits and they hadn't been there yet," board member Ric Dorris told ABC10. Located at 3650 Industrial Boulevard in West Sacramento, the museum was dedicated to preserving the Sacramento region's firefighting history.
