Newly confirmed FBI director Kash Patel has named Dan Bongino, a right wing podcaster who has served as a New York City police officer and Secret Service agent, to be his deputy director, President Donald Trump announced Sunday night. In a social media post, Trump called Bongino “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country” who will insure “Law and Order will be brought back to Anerica.”"Thank you Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel," Bongino posted.

Roughly 125,000 Alabama Power customers were without electricity as of about 6:30 Sunday morning after storms swept the state Saturday night. Two people suffered minor injuries when what was possibly a tornado heavily damaged a building in Hale County, according to the National Weather Service. Tree struck houses in Helena in Shelby County, near Irondale in Jefferson county and in Blount, Calhoun, Etowah, Fayette, Hale and Tallapoosa counties.

One person is dead after a shooting outside a Walmart in Selma, according to the district attorney and news reports. D.A. Robert Turner, Jr. posted on Facebook that Selma police were working with state and federal agencies to investigate the incident. Turner urged the public to remain patient as the investigation continues. Efforts to reach Selma police on Saturday morning were not immediately successful.
