A drug bust in northern Jefferson County led to the seizure of more than $66,000, as well as drugs, guns and scales. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office narcotics deputies and the SWAT team carried out a search warrant Friday in the 1100 block of Pebble Creek Parkway. A 33-year-old man is being held on bonds totaling more than $3 million on multiple drug charges. Two other people were arrested on minor charges.

Two people were killed, and a third injured, in a weekend rollover crash in Marion County. Alabama State Troopers Tuesday identified the victims as Sean N. Miller, 26, and Adam J. Silva, 21. Both men lived in Winfield. The wreck happened at 6:35 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 22, near the 31-mile marker. Trooper Cpl. Reginal King said Miller was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that left the road and overturned. Both he and his passenger, Silva, were ejected from the SUV.

A man and a woman are under arrest for allegedly using a drone to drop two backpacks full of drugs into an Alabama prison. Lashawn Markeith Lamar, 34, and Shaquasia Lachelsea Owens, 29, were taken into custody Monday in Barbour County. Both suspects live in Huntsville and remain held in the Barbour County Jail.

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Stewart is using a new law to try to expedite the court proceedings for the man accused in the kidnapping and brutal killing of Aniah Blanchard. Stewart on Tuesday, at the request of Attorney General Steve Marshall, appointed a retired judge to preside over the case of 35-year-old Ibraheem Yazeed.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the killer or killers of a man shot dead at a biker club party in 2021 in Eufaula. Eric Russaw, 48, was killed Feb. 5. He was a husband, father, business owner and community leader. It was about 10:30 p.m. that Friday when police say shots were fired inside an establishment on Wall Street. When the shooting stopped, Russaw was found lying on his back suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
