METAIRIE, La. (WVUE) - Authorities are investigating after a man was found shot dead in a field near a residential area in Metairie Wednesday (Aug. 14) morning, said the Jefferson sheriff’s office. Deputies say they found the man around 4:50 a.m. after responding to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of North Elm Street. There are no known suspects or motives at this time. Anyone with information that can lead to an arrest is asked to call Crimestoppers.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Due to overwhelming demand, comedian Kevin Hart has added a second consecutive night in New Orleans for his current “Acting My Age” tour. Hart’s original tour stop is scheduled for Feb. 8 at the Saenger Theater and now there will be a show at the Mahalia Jackson Theater the previous night on Feb. 7. Both shows are set for 7:30 p.m.Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.The Mark Twain Award recipient is on tour for his ninth standup special.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - President Joe Biden will be in New Orleans next week, according to his White House schedule. The President and First Lady Jill Biden are planning on attending a Biden Cancer Moonshot Event on Tuesday (Aug. 13). The Cancer Moonshot is a White House initiative established to mobilize leadership in the fight to end cancer. According to the White House, the initiative aims to prevent more than 4 million cancer deaths by 2047.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A young alligator was found stopping traffic on Jefferson Highway on Tuesday (July 30) morning. This was on the 500 block of Jefferson Highway near the train tracks. NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Central Business District is about to get sweeter. Batter, a boutique bakery in Downtown Hammond, recently announced on social media that they are expanding their operations, adding a second location in the Big Easy at 601 Baronne Street. The original shop, located at 109 North Cypress Street in Hammond, opened a few years ago and it specializes in cookies, cupcakes, pastries, and made-to-order cakes for any occasion.
