The University of Delaware Board of Trustees has selected Provost Laura Carlson to serve as interim president of the University, effective July 1, Board Chair Terri Kelly announced today. Carlson will succeed Dennis Assanis, the University’s 28th president who recently announced his plans to step down on June 30. “Provost Carlson has graciously accepted this assignment from the Board,” Kelly said.

Baseball season spurs biomechanics memories Jim Richards was frustrated. For weeks, he had been attempting to render data of a cerebral palsy patient into a 3D model with no luck. Finally, he turned to University of Delaware graduate student Scott Coleman.

The University of Delaware’s Faculty Senate expanded educational access and opportunity through the approval of new academic degrees, certificates and pathways at its meeting on April 7. In total, the Senate approved 149 updates to undergraduate programs and 64 updates to graduate programs through the Consent Agenda and Regular Agenda.

The first Blue Hen Bake Off invited chefs from around campus to create 200 servings of delicious desserts in a competition inspired by the reality TV cooking show “Chopped.” UD chefs and their student assistants bake and battle it out for a chance to taste sweet victory University of Delaware students were in for a sweet surprise at Caesar Rodney Dining Hall last month.

The students’ ambitions were fostered by support at all levels, including the very top, as Thompson was instrumental for the chapter’s post-COVID growth. It started with Armstrong getting a spot on Thompson’s calendar. The two were instantly able to bond over being NSBE members, and Thompson wanted to help the organization. Starting in 2022, the NSBE leadership has had monthly meetings with Thompson where they would discuss fundraising, strategy and problem-solving.
