BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — The Barrow County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of a detention officer who tragically died after an off-duty accident. Braydon Butler, a detention officer who was training to be a Deputy Sheriff, died due to the injuries he sustained during the accident, the sheriff's office said. Butler began his career at the sheriff's office through its High School Explorers program when he was 14. He also graduated from high school in the county.

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — The family of a 19-year-old is heartbroken after a targeted Walmart shooting and attack early Friday morning left the young woman and another co-worker dead. The tragic series of events started when authorities responded to a shooting at the Walmart along Salem Road in Newton County around 1:30 a.m. The Newton County Sheriff's Office described the attack as "targeted," where the suspect, who was a Walmart employee, shot two fellow employees at the store.
