CLEARVIEW — The Highlands Art and Tree Trail officially opened to the public for the first time on May 24. Located on the Duntroon Highlands Golf Course land, the two-kilometre loop was originally planned to be open in early May after installation was slated for March/April, a significant weather event threw a wrench in the plans. “It was a great plan, before the ice storm,” said Duntroon Highlands owner, Martin Rydlo.

Drive carefully on Friday, because a pack of runners will be traversing Simcoe County’s backroads to make it to Blue Mountain Village overnight. The second annual Riot Relay takes off from Toronto at 10 p.m. on June 6, and finishes on June 7 whenever teams reach Blue Mountain Village. There are 40 teams competing this year, who will all be running north from Toronto, through Vaughan and Newmarket, and across the backroads of Stayner and Collingwood.

COLLINGWOOD — Georgian College is looking for a tenant for the John Di Poce South Georgian Bay campus while it figures out the next steps before it can consider reopening. On May 14, the college announced it would be temporarily pausing operations at the Collingwood campus as of Sept. 1. As for how temporary the pause is, the college isn't committing to specifics.

Peter Millsap spiked his teaching career, but is still having a ball. Village Media spoke with Millsap, 58, volleyball coach and retired teacher. Q: Where did you grow up? A: I grew up in Stayner. I went to Byng and Stayner Collegiate Institute. Q: When you graduated, where did life take you? A: I went to the University of Waterloo for math. I went to Western University for teacher’s college. My mom was an English teacher. The teacher part was important, but the English, not so much.
