Glassell Park — A shooting and vehicle crash unfolded tonight, prompting a police investigation and road closures near a shopping center. Officers were called to the 2200 block of San Fernando Road at 6:25 p.m. and found a person suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Jeff Lee. The victim was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, he said.

Elysian Valley -- A man was shot early this morning after suspects asked him if he belonged to a gang, police said. The shooting was reported at 2:30 am in the 1600 block of Blake Avenue, said LAPD spokesman Charles Miller. The victim, a 20-year-old male, was shot at least once. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition but was upgraded to stable condition, Miller said. None of the five suspects, described as Latino males, were in custody this morning, Miller said.

The shootings have stirred up fears of more violence in the Elysian Heights section of Echo Park and reminded many of the March 1, 2009, shootings that left one man dead and another wounded.

Highland Park -- A woman was wounded Wednesday night in a shooting that police said was believed to be gang-related. The shooting, reported at 8:20 pm near Avenue 57 and Figueroa Street, began following an argument between the male suspect and another man, said LAPD spokesman Charles Miller. The man and a woman then got into a vehicle when the suspect opened fire, striking the woman.
