Highland Park laundromat fire extinguished

Highland Park -- Firefighters extinguished a fire this morning in a laundromat in the 6600 block of Figueroa Street. It took about 20 minutes to knock down the blaze, which was reported at 7:25 am, according to the L.A. Fire Department. "Crews on the roof and the interior worked in coordination to extinguish all flames and ensure there were no victims," said an LAFD Alert. No injuries were reported, and the fire's cause was not immediately known.

Today, it’s the Sixth Street Bridge, connecting Boyle Heights and Downtown. Google photo from 2009. One of the oldest public housing complexes in the city, the original Rose Hills Courts was completed in 1942 to house defense workers. It became public housing after the war.

What’s taking so long? Mulholland Fountain repairs face years of delays

Los Feliz — How long does it take to fix a fountain? In the case of the iconic Mulholland Fountain, it will take seven years. After being shut down almost four years ago, the Mulholland Fountain at Los Feliz Boulevard and Riverside Drive now has a tentative reopening date of 2028. At least that’s the goal, according to Michael Ventre, a spokesperson for the L.A. Department of Water and Power.
