A local business was helping to raise funds for the sober living business and a related business called Impossible the Movement. The H-T began looking for information about Malibu House and tracked its incorporation papers to a man name Kiel Sheppard, whose mugshot is prominently displayed on the websites of several news outlets in Florida.

The staff of The Herald-Times took home an impressive 11 awards at the 2024 Society of Professional Journalists Best in Indiana Contest held May 2 in Carmel. Reporter Brian Rosenzweig was honored with a first-place award for education reporting for coverage of happenings at Indiana University. He shared a first-place finish with reporter Boris Ladwig in the social justice reporting category for a deep dive into student protests at Dunn Meadow.
