    Crowds turned out to support Denny and Dunipace Hometown Hoedown Gala and voted it another huge success. Thanks to the efforts of the hard-working committee members, there was a huge parade through the town centre, followed by a packed afternoon of entertainment in the Gala Park. This year’s event had a country and western theme with many of those taking part getting joining in with stetsons and cowboy boots in abundance.

    A woman whose beautiful floral displays graced occasions across the district for decades has died, aged 96. Anne Baff eventually ran two florists shop, her first in Grangemouth and a second in Falkirk, where she provided everything from wedding bouquets to floral tributes, as well as a vast array of flowers for important events in peoples’ lives. She had no formal training just what her family described as “natural flare” – and her thousands of customers over the years agreed.

    After consulting with workers as to what they would like to see, Bakkavor has invested in a multi-million pound upgrade at its Bridgeness site on Carriden Industrial Estate. Opened by Dave Selleck, managing director of Bakkavor Meals, the new colleague facilities feature a new canteen, wellbeing and rest areas, toilets and locker rooms. The replace portable, prefabricated buildings which were previously used on the site.
