In the 80th year of Thomas & Friends, A Day Out With Thomas: The Party Tour will be stopping at Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway on July 12 and 13. The engine will also be visiting the town on August 30 and 31. Day Out With Thomas is a fun-filled family event that takes place at Heritage Railways across the world.

The sounds of thundering hooves and clashing lances will once again fill the air around Linlithgow Palace this weekend. For Saturday and Sunday will see the return of Historic Environment Scotland’s Spectacular Jousting event. Crowds will have the opportunity to cheer on their hero and boo baddy Sir Checkmate, as he battles for victory in the annual jousting competition. Visitors can meet the knights’ horses before and after each joust, which take place at 12.45pm and 2.30pm each day.

Comedian, actor and writer, Mark Cox is set to share stories, memories and loads of laughs in his brand-new show, which comes to Bo’ness on August 23. The show is part of an 11-date tour of Scotland, organised by Aberdeen-based promoters Breakneck Comedy, which starts in Aberdeen on Saturday, August 9 and finishes in Kirkcaldy on Saturday, October 25. Mark is best-known for his role as self-proclaimed “miserable b*stard” Thomas (Tam) Mullen in the hit Scottish sitcom, Still Game.

A young cancer survivor from Bo’ness enjoyed a transformational sailing trip earlier this month off the coast of Largs in North Ayrhire with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Olivia Thom, 25, was diagnosed with an astrocytoma – a type of brain tumour – in 2020 and was only too glad to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities the charity gave her.
