The Dallas Is Lit! literary festival, presented by local nonprofit The Writer’s Garret, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year from Thursday, May 15 to Sunday, May 18. The event begins on Thursday night with Hear Me, See Me, a multilingual poetry performance hosted by the Oak Cliff Assembly. The showcase will feature 11 performers, set to blend poetry and spoken word with music and movement. Tickets to Hear Me, See Me are $25.

Thursday evening, a car barreled through the traffic roundabout on Tyler Street, sailing through the air and crashing into a townhome. A video is available here via NBC 5. The video shows a car going airborne after driving through the roundabout near the Bishop Arts neighborhood. The car flipped, slamming into a home and catching fire. No one was hurt in Thursday night’s crash, according to Dallas police, and the driver was cited for not having a license.

The Dallas Bike Ride returns this Saturday, May 17 with a start time of 8 a.m. With 4,000 riders expected, participants of all ages will enjoy a 20-mile, car-free ride through downtown and past Dallas’ most iconic landmarks.
