KILLEEN, Texas — A Killeen High School student tried to bring a knife to school Wednesday, according to a letter sent to parents by Principal Kara Trevino. The student involved was "addressed by campus administration and law enforcement," the letter states. "Please know that at no time were students or staff in immediate danger," the letter states.

BELTON, Texas — The second day of the murder trial of Caysen Allison began Tuesday morning after an emotional first day that included testimony from teachers and staff. Allison, 18 at the time, is accused of fatally stabbing Joe Ramirez, 18, in the bathroom of Belton High School in May 2022. Ramirez and four other boys were in the bathroom when the stabbing occurred, according to Allison's defense team. Those four boys were in the courtroom as of Tuesday morning.

TEMPLE, Texas — A painted horse was found walking near FM 93 and 31st St. Monday morning in Temple. The Temple Police Department posted a picture of the horse on its Facebook page saying it was with Temple Animal Services. Police said they received multiple calls a little before 7 a.m. as it was walking down the road. The first caller said it was near Central Texas Christian School walking into a field.

TEMPLE, Texas — Two people were shot to death early Sunday morning in Temple, according to the Temple Police Department. According to police, officers were called to 1900 N. 1st St. just after 4 a.m. They found one person who had been shot. Around ten minutes later, they learned a second person had been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. A justice of the peace pronounced the first person dead at the scene and the second person died at the hospital.

KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Independent School District named an interim principal for Roy J. Smith Middle School Monday afternoon. Dr. Bobbie Reeders will step in effective immediately, according to a news release from the district. “Dr. Reeders possesses the leadership qualities and a genuine, caring personality that will facilitate student growth, enhance the daily learning experience on campus and encourage all to strive to be their best,” Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Fey said.
