    The slow moving storm over the central U.S. will continue to work it’s way eastward into eastern NC on Friday bringing periods of showers and storms through Friday night. Thursday will bring plenty of clouds, but only a stray shower through late afternoon. Temps will climb from the 60s early into the 80s by early afternoon. We’ll like see more of showers and storms from early evening Thursday through Friday night before the front entirely clears the coast by sunrise Saturday.

    A strong cold front will approach eastern North Carolina late Friday bringing a risk for scattered strong to severe storms. The risk level from the Storm Prediction Center is currently at level 1, (marginal), to level 2, (slight), for late Friday into Friday night. The current target window for potential severe storms is trending towards mid afternoon Friday through midnight Friday night. The timing and threat level may shift a bit as we get closer to Friday.

Wednesday will widespread moderate rain through midday with scattered showers lingering into the afternoon before things go quiet by sunset. We’ll like see more periods of showers and storms from late afternoon Thursday through Friday night before the front entirely clears the coast by sunrise Saturday.

    The front bringing the raindrops isn’t going anywhere fast. It will meander near or just offshore through the week, keeping clouds, light showers, and cooler temperatures locked in across much of the region. Tuesday will bring anther round of light rain from midday through sunset, with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder continuing through Tuesday night.

    We’ll see widespread showers across Eastern North through the first half of Memorial Day. The steadiest rain will fall early in the day, with pockets of moderate to heavy rain possible during the morning and midday hours. The bulk of the rain will take a break this afternoon with just an isolated shower lingering after midday. Most areas should be okay for grilling Monday afternoon/evening.
