After a cool Tuesday, temperatures drop quickly overnight! How far is up to the wind. Freeze warnings have been issued as a precaution for areas west and north of Pitt County Wednesday morning. Some areas could see temperatures reach the 30s as early as midnight. Frost develops under clear skies and light winds as temperatures fall into the mid-30s. A weak north breeze may increase slightly after midnight keeping many in the upper 30s or 40s. Our average last freeze for Greenville is March 23rd.

Areas along the East Coast including North Carolina need to continue monitoring the tropical disturbance headed for the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 11 PM update Friday, Potential Tropical Cyclone Four has winds at 30 MPH and gusts up to 40 MPH. The pressure is at 1012 mb and is moving to the west at 16 mph. PTC 4 is expected to become a tropical depression soon and eventually become Tropical Storm Debby over the weekend. It’ll move slowly before escaping to the north next week.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The wobble of the slow-moving cold front kept a good chunk of the rain outside of ENC Friday. While that lowered the flash flood threat, it also kept much-needed rain away from the spots that missed out on Thursday’s rain. A flash flood watch remains in effect until midnight when the flash flooding threat drops to near zero. If there is flash flooding, avoid water-covered roadways, and don’t drive around barricades.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The tropics have calmed down after Beryl. There is a disturbance off the coast of the Southeastern US but it’s expected to be a rainmaker only. The National Hurricane Center gives it a 10% chance of development through the weekend. We may see this disturbance swing through over the weekend. Our rain chances come from a slow-moving front Thursday and Friday. The front won’t bring much in the way of heat or humidity relief.

More counties trimmed out of the Severe T-storm Watch, here's an update. #ncwx https://t.co/KocSqC01IW

Quick burst of damaging winds possible crossing US 17. Anyone have damage in Pitt County? #ncwx https://t.co/TbBzo1hD3q

A much needed round of widespread, sometimes heavy, rain is expected later today. With the front slowing down, we'll watch for an isolated strong to severe storm in the afternoon. Wind is the main concern if you catch a storm, but most just see rain. Up to 2" possible in spots! https://t.co/LbUl5MfAxT
