IRONDEQUOIT — May 8 started out as a normal day for the high-school students at Chesterton Academy of Rochester: morning classes followed by noon Mass at Christ the King Church, which is part of St. Kateri Parish. However, by the time they returned to school for lunch, something important had changed — white smoke had appeared from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel to announce that the Catholic Church had a new pope.
