Catholic Courier
The Catholic Courier is the newspaper for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, New York. It was started by lay Catholics in 1889 under the name The Catholic Journal. Throughout its history, the newspaper has used different combinations of the words "Catholic," "Courier," and "Journal." In 1989, to celebrate its 100th anniversary, it was officially renamed the Catholic Courier.

ROCHESTER — The chanted Litany of Supplication to the Saints filled Sacred Heart Cathedral May 31 as three men lay prostrate on the marble floor before the altar. The voices of priests, deacons, congregants and the Cathedral Schola choir were lifted in prayer as the men approached the moment for which they’d prepared for years: ordination as deacons for the Diocese of Rochester. One of those men, Deacon David Cataline, will be ordained to the priesthood next year.
