SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Sugar House man convicted of a more than a year-long campaign of threats and harassment asked the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole to release him, but victims say his release would put the community in danger. Maurice Raffoul, who’s been behind bars for just over a year, told the board he’s ready to rejoin society. “I'm very sorry, I have a lot of remorse for what happened and give me an opportunity to move forward in my life,” he said at Thursday’s parole hearing.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A ransomware attack on the Arizona Federal Public Defender’s Office has delayed progress in the Ralph Menzies death penalty case. Defense attorneys filed a motion last week asking the court for more time to prepare a reply brief on Menzies’ mental competency after the hack wiped out their access to case files. The office said they lost a nearly complete 25-page draft of the reply brief they were preparing to file.
