    Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System and Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health are seeking state approval to develop a new $225 million hospital in Mebane. However, the planned facility is also in direct competition with Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health’s plan to build a $275 million facility in the same area. Both plans are expected to be viewed by state regulators as “competing proposals,” according to a report in Business North Carolina.

The Health Equity-State database uses social determinants of health data, including race, ethnicity, language, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation and disability status to determine access to equitable care and coverage. Facilities are ranked on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score.
