The PA profession grew 27.8% over the last five years, reaching 189,907 board-certified PAs at the end of 2024, according to the latest NCCPA Statistical Profile of Board Certified PAs released May 12. Dan Barbee, BSN, who had returned to University of Toledo Medical Center in Ohio as interim CEO in November, was appointed to the role permanently. Mr. Barbee’s interim title was removed May 1, according to a hospital news release. Before returning to UTMC last year, Mr. Barbee was president of rural market for Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health and interim president of Mercy Health-St. Anne Hospital in Toledo. He previously served as CEO of UTMC from 2016 to 2020.
