FRANKLIN, Mass. — Hundreds of members of Saint Mary’s Parish in Franklin, gathered for an outdoor mass Sunday. This comes days after investigators said someone purposely set their church on fire. The Pastor said his message Sunday was forgiveness. “It’s so easy in the midst of great darkness and challenge to lose hope,” said Father Bob Poitras, “Even in despair my faith has reminded me god is present.”Father Poitras preached to a crowd of heartbroken church goers Sunday morning.

MASS. — Time is ticking as election day gets closer. The last day to register to vote in Massachusetts is Saturday. Some people stopping by a polling place in Waltham Saturday talked about why they think everyone should vote this election. “I think at minimum it’s my civic obligation to vote and more importantly it’s a way that I can have a voice for what I believe in for my community for my future for my family,” said Lindsey Keeler, Waltham.

FRANKLIN, Mass. — Arson investigators have doubled their reward for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in connection with a fire that was intentionally set at a church in Franklin earlier this week. Franklin Battalion Fire Chief Charles Allen said the blaze started on the second floor in the back of St. Mary’s Parish just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators are now asking the community to help them solve the crime.

MILTON, Mass. — Some people hiking at Blue Hills Reservation in Milton on Thursday said they could smell smoke because of a fire that burned two acres there Sunday afternoon and is still smoldering. The National Weather Service is urging people in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut to be extra careful because there’s an elevated wildfire risk.

MILTON, Mass. — The National Weather Service says there is an elevated fire risk in Massachusetts as a deadly wildfire continues to burn in Connecticut. The combination of recent dry weather, gusty winds, and lower humidity makes conditions favorable for wildfire spread today in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, the NWS and National Fire Service said. “Use caution when handling and disposing of ignition sources,” the NWS warned in a special statement.
