Members of Perth's arts community are asking why beloved local sculptures have been placed in storage indefinitely while City of Perth spends money installing a new piece from a US artist. An arts consultant has launched a public campaign calling on the city to bring back the sculpture Ore Obelisk that sat in Stirling Gardens from 1971 to 2021.

For Chad Creighton,who grew up in Broome and on the Dampier Peninsula in Western Australia's remote Kimberley region, hunting was a part of life from childhood. "Every weekend, every other day, you just go hunting or fishing. We live with the seasons," Creighton, a Bardi and Nyul Nyul man, told ABC Radio Perth. "It's wet season right now, and this is when we go hunting for goanna, for ducks, for geese, and for reef fish in the ocean," he said.
