Queensland's environment minister has categorically ruled out closing public access to the culturally significant Glass House Mountains. Speculation over closures was sparked after a climbing group obtained documents under a Freedom of Information request from the Department of Environment. Several emails between bureaucrats and park rangers discussed plans to permanently close Mount Beerwah and nearby peaks. But Environment Minister Andrew Powell said he guaranteed that would not happen.

Sarah-Rose Grauf suffered unimaginable grief when she lost her newborn daughter in 2023. In the months that followed, the devastated mother and her family found strength in their community at Coolum, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Mrs Grauf said she and her friend recently began hosting free gatherings on the beach with breath work, yoga, meditation, and sound healing as a way of giving something back.

The founder of a charity that gives homeless people a safe place to sleep says he has run out of money fulfill a promise he made to regional areas. Melbourne businessman Simon Rowe started the non-profit Sleepbus organisation in 2016 but says he is winding it up in June due to financial struggles. Sleepbus operated buses providing temporary accommodation in Maroochydore, Hervey Bay, and Redcliffe in Queensland, and Queanbeyan in NSW.

Noosa Junction restaurant New York Minute is the latest to announce it is putting a stop to live performances, after what one local promoter has called "relentless authoritarian hassling ... inspired by a very, very small group of complaining local residents".
