A couple of years ago, Thompson Valley Emergency Services Battalion Chief Dave Edwards was at Ball Arena in Denver for a Cirque du Soleil performance with his family when he noticed his oldest daughter, who is on the autism spectrum, didn’t seem to be enjoying the show as much as everyone else. “I’m engaged, my wife is engaged, my youngest daughter is engaged, but our oldest daughter was rigid in her seat, and you could just tell from her face that she was not into it,” he recalled.

Just weeks away from the beginning of fill operations at Chimney Hollow Reservoir west of Loveland, Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District has announced that uranium-bearing minerals have been detected in water quality sampling at the site. According to district officials, the uranium is naturally occurring in the granitic rock formations surrounding the reservoir and is not a significant source of radioactivity.

More than 30 years after laying the first segment of Loveland’s Recreation Loop Trail, longtime resident and general contractor Greg Hoff has helped bring the project full circle. Crews from Hoff Construction recently completed paving on the last remaining soft surface stretch of the 21-mile loop, giving pedestrians and cyclists a smoother way to travel around the city. “It went really well,” Hoff said of the project, which paved an 0.8-mile segment between Wilson and Namaqua avenues.
