Seasonal restrictions on the use of fertilizers in landscaping within the town have taken effect. Since 2019, the town has banned the use of fertilizers containing phosphorus and nitrogen during the rainy-season months. The ban, which runs June 1 through Sept. 30, does not apply to golf courses. Nitrogen and phosphorus are nutrients that are natural parts of aquatic ecosystems.

The marina's severe weather protocol is designed to safeguard the facility and protect the well-being of residents and slip holders. The marina's storm plan begins five days before a projected landfall. All boaters docking at the marina are required to have a hurricane plan and designated safe harbor on file. The town marina has implemented a comprehensive plan to safeguard vessels, facilities, equipment, personnel, and guests in the event of a hurricane.

With the 2025 hurricane season set to begin June 1, the town is advising residents and businesses to prepare now. Assistant Chief Joe Sekula, Fire-Rescue spokesman, told the Daily News that knowing evacuation routes, shelter options, and re-entry procedures is critical for storm preparedness. "With hurricane season running from June 1 to November 30, the Town of Palm Beach — situated on a vulnerable barrier island — is urging residents, property owners, and visitors to prepare early," Sekula said.

As part of ongoing preservation efforts, Palm Beach will consider landmark designation for nearly two dozen properties next season. At its meeting May 21 at Town Hall, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a list of 22 properties for consideration following presentations by landmark consultants Emily Stillings and Janet Murphy. Those properties join eight others that were deferred from last season.
