    Work to stabilise a cliff prone to landslip ahead of a £750k play park overhaul will start this year. Cliff stabilisation work below The Leas in Folkestone will begin this autumn before the Lower Leas Coastal Park play area is revamped. It comes after a landslide struck the area above the play equipment, near The Vinery, in February 2024. It was caused by excessive rainfall following particularly inclement weather brought to the county by Storm Ciaran and Storm Isha.

    An award-winning actor and former Olympic champion are set to visit a Kent beach this week. Grantchester and Happy Valley star James Norton is to join Rebecca Adlington for a bold 10-hour swim from Joss Bay in Broadstairs. The pair are taking part in the Talisker Wild Blue Swim Challenge - a bold, 10-hour ocean relay in aid of the Blue Marine Foundation. The charity aims to protect and restore marine environments such as coastal habitats by addressing issues such as overfishing.

    A person has been taken to hospital following a crash at a four-way junction. Two vehicles were involved in the collision at about 10.30am this morning in Cheriton, Folkestone. Pictures show a red Audi A1 and a blue Renault Clio with damage at the Cheriton Road and Cherry Garden Avenue junction. At least one police vehicle, an ambulance and a fire engine were called to the intersection.

    A towering Ferris wheel in the middle of a Kent shopping centre would invade the privacy of nearby homes and a nursery, it is feared. Planning permission is being sought for the 33 metre-high structure at the Ashford Designer Outlet, where it would be in position for six months of the year over the next five years. The Ferris wheel plan has been submitted to Ashford Borough Council by bosses of the designer outlet.
