    BURLINGTON, N.D. (KMOT) - The city of Burlington is enacting soft water restrictions. According to a social media post from the city, the water tower levels can’t keep up with current usage. Even-numbered homes may water on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Odd-numbered homes may water on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The city said it hopes for this to be a temporary restriction.     WILLIAMS COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) – Law enforcement is currently engaging with a barricaded subject in a building at the Fort Union Trading Post in Buford Township. Det. Daniel Ward with the Williams County Sheriff’s Office said a 911 call went out shortly before 8 a.m. of a person at the trading post who was not supposed to be there. Deputies arrived shortly before 8:15 a.m. at the park. Ward said staff and visitors were safely removed from the park.

    MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – A foreclosure case involving the former CEO of EPIC Companies will go to trial next year. In October 2024, Bravera Bank filed the foreclosure suit against Henry Land Holdings, a subsidiary of EPIC Holdings. In the suit, the bank is seeking roughly $3 million in mortgage payments. Former EPIC CEO Todd Berning is among several defendants named in the foreclosure suit. A court trial was scheduled for Feb. 2, 2026, in Ward County.

    CHURCHS FERRY, N.D. (KMOT) – Eleven grain cars of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train derailed last Wednesday north of Churchs Ferry. A spokesperson for the railroad said the derailment occurred around 7:40 a.m. The spokesperson said as of Monday, five of the 11 cars are upright, and crews remain on site working to clear the incident. No one was hurt, and there is no threat to the public, according to BNSF. The company said it hopes to return to operations on the main track this week.
