MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) β A man charged with murder in a fatal shooting last summer in Minot will stand trial on the charges next month. Delon Davis is charged with murder in the shooting death of Mark McMillan. At a hearing Tuesday, Davis pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, after prosecutors amended the charge from theft of property-firearm. At the hearing, state prosecutors said they had proposed multiple deals to Davis, but he had rejected them.

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) β The Minot City Council on Monday narrowly voted down an amended effort to grant property tax exemptions to certain childcare providers. Earlier this month, the council voted down a motion that would have effectively created an across-the-board property tax exemption for private childcare center.

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) β The Minot City Council voted Monday to set the date for the special election for mayor for August 5, 2025. The winner of the election will fill the remaining term of Tom Ross, who resigned earlier this month, into next June. To date, four people have publicly announced their intentions to run. Council Members Mark Jantzer, Rob Fuller and Paul Pitner have all said they are running, along with private citizen Josiah Roise.

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) β A manβs body was discovered in the Souris River just west of the Broadway viaduct Monday afternoon, according to a report from Minot Police. Minot Police said they responded to a report around 2:50 p.m. The report said the manβs body was discovered by several people fishing in the area, near the 200 block of 1st Avenue NW. Minot Fire recovered the body from the water. Police said at this time, there are no obvious signs of trauma. The incident remains under investigation.
