What do you get when you combine parts of Aerosmith, The Black Crowes and Stone Temple Pilots? A rock band super group that is set to tour this summer. The Joe Perry Project is bringing together guitarists Perry and Brad Whitford and keyboardist Buck Johnson from Aerosmith, singer Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes, and bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz from Stone Temple Pilots for an August 2025 tour.
Kosmos 482, a Soviet-era spacecraft, is just hours away from descent back to Earth

A small, unmanned Soviet-era spacecraft is expected to fall back to Earth sometime Friday night or Saturday morning. When it launched in March 1972, the spacecraft Kosmos 482 was slated for a 41 million-mile mission to Venus. But instead it experienced a rocket malfunction soon after leaving the Earth’s atmosphere. It broke up into pieces and what’s left of Kosmos 482 — a hull about 3 feet in diameter that weighs about 1,000 pounds — has been stuck in a low-Earth orbit ever since.

The park in Southeast Portland says moms can receive a free ride bracelet on Sunday, May 11, with the purchase of a ride bracelet for a child. The bracelets are good for unlimited rides, though riders must meet specific height and safety requirements for each ride. Those interested should ask for the Mother’s Day Special at the park’s ticket booth.
Baked beans recalled in 23 states, including Oregon

Vietti Food Group has recalled 15-ounce cans of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans because they contain soy and the presence of that potential allergen was not listed on the labels. The recall affects 4,515 cases of the baked beans that were sold in 23 states, including Oregon. Affected beans are printed with the lot code “Best if Used By Feb 17, 2028” on the bottom of each can.

One of the top athletes in the world has joined the ownership group of Denver’s NWSL team. Coloradan Mikaela Shiffrin, the all-time most decorated alpine skier, has joined the top brass for the soccer club that is slated to start playing in 2026. “I’m beyond thrilled to join the ownership group of Denver NWSL and support something so meaningful in the community I call home,” Shiffrin said in a statement.

A grocery store chain popular on the East Coast and in the Midwest is looking to move into more western markets as it plans to open hundreds of new stores in the next few years. Aldi, a budget-friendly chain that already boasts more than 2,500 stores in the United States, wants to open 225 stores in 2025 and a total of 800 from 2024-28. Las Vegas is the latest western U.S. city where Aldi is trying to make inroads.
