The company that makes Bonya yogurt parfaits is recalling the products because they contain almonds, an ingredient not listed on the labels. Those with an allergy or sensitivity to almonds could have serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the products, Knockro Inc. said in its recall notice. The affected products were distributed to stores nationwide and come in 12-ounce, clear plastic cups with an expiration date of May 5, 2025.
Costco limits purchases of gold bars, an in-demand item

Gold prices are up nearly 35% in the past year, but those planning to stock up on this shiny, valuable investment should heed this warning:Costco is limiting customers to one gold bar purchase per transaction online, with a limit of two gold bars per 24 hours. That apparently is down from a previous limit of two per transaction and five total per 24 hours. Who even knew Costco sold gold bars? Well, the Issaquah, Washington-based warehouse club giant does indeed.
Fast-casual restaurant chain plans to close up to 21 stores

Fast-casual restaurant chain Noodles & Company plans to close 13-17 company-owned locations this year, along with four franchised locations. The company updated those projections last week as it shared its first quarter earnings report. Its previous projection had been to close 12-15 company-owned locations. Noodles & Company serves dishes from Spaghetti & Meatballs to Creamy Cheddar Mac & Cheese to Pad Thai. It operates 460 total restaurants, with 369 company-owned and 91 franchised.
NFL reveals Christmas Day matchups on Netflix, part of holiday tripleheader

The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions each play every Thanksgiving, and now they also will play on a second major holiday in 2025. The NFL on Wednesday announced the matchups for a Christmas Day doubleheader on Netflix that will come as part of Week 17 of the 2025 NFL season. It will start with an NFC East matchup as the Cowboys will visit the Washington Commanders at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET.

Gas prices could hit $8 in this western state by late 2026, study warns

Gasoline prices in California could rise above $8 by the end of 2026, according to a new study. A gallon of regular gasoline in the Golden State could cost between $7.35 and $8.44 by that time, says the study, which was led by Michael A. Mische of USC’s Marshall School of Business and released last week. That would mark a 50% to 72% increase over current prices. As of May 1, AAA listed the average price for a gallon of gas in California at $4.90, already the highest price in the nation.

Sabrina Ionescu is back in Eugene, bringing her New York Liberty to face the Toyota Antelopes of Japan on Monday night at Matthew Knight Arena. The history of UFO sightings in the United States can’t be told without the Pacific Northwest. Pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine unidentified flying objects whizzing past Mount Rainier at high speeds from his plane in June 1947, and the terms flying saucer and flying disc were born. Three years later, Paul Trent snapped two photos of a flying object after his wife, Evelyn, first spotted it in the sky above their Dayton farm.

Kosmos 482, a Soviet-era spacecraft, is just hours away from descent back to Earth

A small, unmanned Soviet-era spacecraft is expected to fall back to Earth sometime Friday night or Saturday morning. When it launched in March 1972, the spacecraft Kosmos 482 was slated for a 41 million-mile mission to Venus. But instead it experienced a rocket malfunction soon after leaving the Earth’s atmosphere. It broke up into pieces and what’s left of Kosmos 482 — a hull about 3 feet in diameter that weighs about 1,000 pounds — has been stuck in a low-Earth orbit ever since.
