A Redding man was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly threatening to shoot his roommates with a semi-automatic rifle. Redding Police (RPD) say the incident happened around 7:58 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, along the 2100 block of Miller Street. They arrived to find 54-year-old Jason Finck, who had reportedly threatened to kill his roommates with a semi-automatic rifle. According to RPD, Finck initially refused to leave the home, but eventually surrendered himself to police.
Fatal Humboldt hit-and-run prompts CHP investigation

Garberville CHP are searching for a driver who reportedly hit, and killed, a 28-year-old person on Saturday morning. According to CHP, they received reports of a pedestrian lying down in the lanes of northbound US 101, near Piercy California at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. Garberville CHP arrived to the scene to find a person who, they say had been hit and killed by a vehicle. That vehicle, CHP says, did not stop after hitting the person, and did not call 911.
Two dogs killed in Redding house fire

Two dogs were killed in a fire that destroyed the majority of a Redding home on Saturday night. According to the Redding Fire Department (RFD) the fire began around 10:19 p.m. along the 12600 block of Williamson Road, after a spark from the home's fireplace caught onto a nearby combustible surface. By the time the first engine arrived, RFD says that 75% of the home was already engulfed in flames.
Red Bluff man arrested following weeks-long attempted murder investigation

Tehama County Deputies have arrested the man who, they say, shot another man in Red Bluff last month. 40-year-old Thurman Franks was named the primary suspect in a non-fatal shooting that reportedly happened on April 13 along Red Bluff's Rio Street. The victim in that shooting, a 40-year-old man, was treated at a nearby hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower extremities. Police say the shooting happened after an argument over personal property.
Mount Shasta avalanche traps climber; helicopter sent in for rescue operation

A mountain climber trapped in an avalanche along Mount Shasta was rescued by a helicopter on Friday. According to the CHP Northern Division Air Ops, the climber was overtaken by an avalanche alongside the mountain while at roughly 11,000 feet elevation. Video released by CHP indicates that the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
