ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Brittney Young was just 4 years old when someone murdered her father, but that hasn’t stopped her from wanting to know who did it. Early in the morning of Oct. 23, 1992, Byron “Monty” Wisecarver, 26, was shot twice at close range outside his home on Sherills Ford Road in Salisbury. “Who would want to do that to a father who is just trying to raise his kids?” said Brittney. That’s a question the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office believes it’s close to answering.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - WBTV has learned new details about the killing of a 6-year-old boy in Stanly County that happened more than two decades ago. Chance Smith, 6, was reported missing in Locust, North Carolina in December 2003, and was found dead hours later. His death has never been solved. WBTV recently obtained an autopsy report for Smith, which lists the cause of death as a traumatic brain injury. The autopsy shows there were “multiple injuries” to the right side of Smith’s head.

Great moments in unintended consequences—when something that sounds like a great idea goes horribly wrong. Watch the whole series. The Problem: too many guns on the streets of Utica, New York. The Solution: an anonymous gun buyback program, with a premium paid for unregistered "ghost guns" that don't have serial numbers. Sounds like a great idea, with the best of intentions. What could possibly go wrong?
