Missing San Leandro teenager Amiraka Harris SAN LEANDRO, Calif. - San Leandro police are asking for public assistance to find a teenager last seen Wednesday afternoon.    According to the San Leandro Police Department, Amiraka Harris, 14, left her home on Waterfall Way at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was wearing a white shirt and grey shorts.

A Gonzales man was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of stabbing animals inside a school property in February 2023, Monterey County prosecutors said. Jose Jesse Marquez, 31, was handed a jail term of 19 years and four months on Tuesday, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said. Marquez was previously found guilty of four counts of felony animal abuse with the use of a knife, felony resisting a police officer, and felony burglary.

Newark police are asking for the public’s help in solving the 2022 death of a man who lapsed into a coma after a fight at a local park, during a memorial service for a shooting victim. Around 11 p.m. on July 22, 2022, police learned a man was in a coma at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. Identified as Sergio Grageda, a 24-year-old resident of Newark, police said they learned that he was taken by friends to Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont.

Over three dozen inmates at San Francisco County Jail are in isolation due to a COVID outbreak in the correctional facility, the Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. In a statement, the San Francisco Sheriff's Office said there are 42 confirmed inmates with COVID in its custody, with the highest numbers reported at County Jail No. 3 in San Bruno, which has the largest jail population. According to authorities, 3.3% of the county jail population tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

Updated at 8:49 a.m. Monday — The Point Fire in northern Sonoma County has reached around 1,100 acres, according to Cal Fire, which noted that the blaze might further swell on Monday. The fire, one of more than a dozen currently burning across California, also appeared to be heading in the direction of several wineries in the area. As of 6:05 a.m. Monday, crews have contained 20% of the blaze near Lake Sonoma, according to fire officials.
