I’ve had a few interactions recently where it has become clear to me that church tradition trumps scripture when it comes to a definition of mission. Many Christians from a Protestant background would define mission as crossing from one culture to another for the purpose of spreading the Gospel. They’re not completely wrong, but it doesn’t seem to do justice to Jesus’ invitation for his Church to join him in his mission.
