The Boston School Committee is expected to vote on a proposed three-year contract with the city’s educators Wednesday night that would boost pay for employees like teachers and paraprofessionals, according to the board’s agenda. The committee, which is expected to hold its first hybrid session of the year, is scheduled to meet starting at 6 p.m. at the district’s Roxbury headquarters. The proposed deal was brokered by the union and school negotiators late last month, after about a year of talks.

The finalists are Jack Elsey, founder and CEO of the Michigan Educator Workforce Initiative; Lily Laux, former deputy commissioner of school programs for the Texas Education Agency; and Pedro Martinez, outgoing CEO of Chicago Public Schools.

The state’s Head Start association blasted the Trump administration Monday for reportedly proposing to scrap the federal program that serves thousands of low-income children and families across the US, including in Massachusetts. The White House’s fiscal 2026 funding blueprint does not allocate money for Head Start, and it is listed among programs to be eliminated, USA Today reported Friday. The news outlet cited an unidentified official who was familiar with the plan, according to the report.
