The Firebirds won the Region 2 Championship 70-41 over Thompson, who comes in as the No. 4 seed to the state tournament.

MINOT, N.D. (KFYR) - The first four spots in the Division B boys state basketball tournament were solidified on Thursday night with region championship games across the state. Region 1:Hankinson defeated Oakes 58-45 to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2007. Region 2:North Border is back in the state tournament for the first time since 2007. The Eagles defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne 55-46 for the Region 2B Championship.

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The first four spots in the Division A boys state basketball tournament were solidified on Thursday night with region championship games. Region 1:Kindred has not lost a game against an opponent from North Dakota all season, and that continued in a rare Wednesday night game with a 55-40 win over Wahpeton. The Vikings are coming off a season where they finished as the runner-up against Devils Lake at the state tournament.

The top four teams from the West and the top four teams from the East qualified by winning at least two games in their respective regional tournaments.
