LITCHFIELD – The Litchfield Board of Education budget deficit for 2023-24 is not as bad as initially projected but still exceeds $500,000, according to the preliminary result of an audit. In his review of the $20,024,237 budget, auditor David Cappelletti identified a projected shortfall of $518,458, or more than $300,000 less than the $873,000 forecast by the town’s fiscal office in September. Cappelletti presented his findings to the Board of Finance on Monday.
