A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for part of Lehigh County as showers and storms make their way through the Lehigh Valley region Tuesday afternoon. The thunderstorm warning is in effect until 4 p.m. for central Lehigh and Berks counties, according to the National Weather Service. Around 3:25 p.m., a line of severe thunderstorms extended from Schuylkill Haven in Schuylkill County to Mount Gretna Heights in Lebanon County, moving east at 45 mph, according to the warning.

Multiple police units have descended on a street in Center City Bethlehem late Monday afternoon. Police cars have blocked off West Goepp Street between New and Masslich streets. Police, some with riot shields, appeared to be calling to a person in a house on the unit block of West Goepp Street instructing them to come out, according to a reporter in the area. Neighbors said the incident started after 4 p.m.No further details were immediately available. This is a developing story.

Police in Phillipsburg are telling people Monday afternoon to stay away from an “active scene” in the city. There is a large police presence in the area of South Main, Stockton and Jefferson streets, according to a post on the Phillipsburg Police Department’s Facebook page around 4:15 p.m.“This is an active scene. Please stay away from the area,” the post read in part. No further details were immediately available. Police said more information would follow.
