MILTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – A Milton police officer was shot while responding to a reported structure fire in Milton Wednesday evening. Vermont State Police said that no one is currently in custody, but there is no threat to the public. On Thursday, state police spokesperson Adam Silverman said the wounded officer, Milton Police Sgt. Paul Locke, is expected to be okay. “It’s still scary and an unfortunate situation,” Silverman said.

According to Vermont State Police, local agencies were dispatched to Main Street in Milton around 7 p.m. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, VSP says first responders were met with gunfire.
