(WSYR-TV) — At least 18 correction officers are now part of the investigation into the homicide of an inmate at the Mid-State Correctional Facility, the Department of Corrections confirms to NewsChannel 9. Of the 18, seven have resigned from the job. 11 are suspended without pay. The new information from the Department of Corrections is both a change in the total number of officers who may have had a role in the beating and the first notice that some have resigned.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An investigation is underway at MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas after a cancer patient woke up to startling news in the operating room. Kimberly LeMarbre said a surgery to address her second diagnosis of thyroid cancer was scheduled for January of 2024. She went under anesthesia, but was told when she woke up that the surgery couldn’t be completed. “I open my eyes and I knew immediately something was wrong,” LeMarbre told the 8 News Now Investigators with Nexstar’s KLAS.
