BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Shreveport woman accused of attempting to kidnap a baby from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge appeared in court on Wednesday. Dinesty Selmon, 22, walked out of the 19th Judicial District Courthouse, avoiding our camera and our questions. Selmon was arrested and charged last March for allegedly trying to kidnap a baby from Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Former LSU student Matthew Marsiglia didn’t appear in court on Tuesday for his manslaughter arraignment after his attorney filed a no-appearance motion. Through his attorney, he pleads not guilty. Marsiglia was arrested last April after a March fight outside Fred’s in Tigerland, 26-year-old David Repath died three days after the fight. According to an arrest affidavit we obtained in April, Repath was arguing with Marsiglia’s friends and punched one of them.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A six-week-old kitten in Gonzales is receiving care after being deliberately injured with fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Jonathan Henriques, director of Rescue Alliance in Gonzales, said the kitten was tied up and targeted with Roman candles by a group of teens on Weber City Road. “This is animal abuse at its finest,” Henriques said. Henriques responded to a call from a concerned neighbor at dusk on Dec. 31.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The mother of a man who was killed in 2023 wants justice for her son. The mother of 29-year-old Donte Tate, Natasha Tate speaks out about the death of her son. “He was standing on this corner when the car came this way and shot through the field,” said Tate. On June 12, 2023, 29-year-old Donte Tate was standing in front of the now-closed Cadillac Grocery Store in north Baton Rouge with some friends. His mother said a car drove by and opened fire. He was shot and killed.
