An inquest has heard how a support worker who tragically drowned in a freezing canal 'could have jumped in' after the disabled man he was caring for. Ceri John Jenkins, 60, and Aaron Ritchie, 49, both lost their lives in a harrowing incident on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in November 2023. Mr Ritchie, who had autism, epilepsy, and a mental age of 10 or less, was a long-standing resident at Mayfield House care home in Wigan, with Mr Jenkins acting as his support worker on that fateful day.
