The council said the project will deliver a ‘vibrant, residential-led mixed use development including hotel, office and commercial space’. The authority said the new development would be ‘surrounded by the town’s rich heritage assets, vibrant amenities and excellent transport links’.

The recently completed Farnworth Green complex occupies the former market site in the town and is made up of 85 apartments and 12 family homes. Developers Capital & Centric said independent bars, eateries and shops will occupy the ground floor along with a community hub. Ollo, a company created by Capital & Centric to manage rentals at the site, published a statement responding to what they described as "lots of rumours" circulating on social media.

A Bolton taxi driver had his licence revoked after allegations were made that he acted in an’ inappropriate sexual way’ towards a female passenger. A meeting of Bolton Council’s licensing committee heard that the alleged incident happened when the man was working as an Uber driver in the town. As he held a private hire taxi licence issued by the council, the hearing was necessary for public safety reasons.

Councillors heard 'the increasing number of HMOs is doing damage to the structure of the borough'Bolton council has agreed new rules to control the number of homes being converted into rental properties for multiple tenants. In 2021, the borough had 117 houses of multiple occupation (HMOS), but by the end of last year there were 720. The town hall has now put in place an 'article four' direction, restricting the development of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) in Bolton with immediate effect.
