Off-road bikers are churning up Burslem Golf Club after getting on the course via an existing Stoke-on-Trent City Council right of way off Salkeld Place. The club had installed a temporary scaffolding structure to try to keep the bikers out. But the club was ordered to take it down - or risk prosecution.
11,955 Stoke-on-Trent tenants demand action over mouldy and damp council houses

Almost 12,000 council house tenants have complained about living in damp and mouldy properties in a 17-month period. Data from Stoke-on-Trent City Council shows complaints had been received from tenants in 11,955 properties between August 2023 and January this year. The complaints resulted in 16,595 jobs - including mould washing, painting, plastering, and fan repairs - being completed. Seventy-two tenants have had to leave their homes due to the state of the properties.
Funding for canal improvement works approved

Canal improvement works costing £40,000 have been approved for Lichfield. As a result, a stretch of the Coventry Canal towpath between New Bridge on Gorse Lane to Fradley Junction will see repairs to the embankment. Lichfield District Council said the works would be funded by a Section 106 agreement, secured with a housing developer in 2013 when 750 houses at Fradley Park received planning permission.
Corey, 17, has driving test cancelled and can't get another one for 115 days

A 17-year-old has had his driving test cancelled at the last minute - and now has a new date in late September. Corey Bloor had been booked in for his Wednesday, June 4 test for four months. But it was cancelled on Monday due to a lack of examiners. Now the Cheadle teenager has to wait until September 29 for his test. Dad Steve said: “He’s devastated - really, really gutted. He’s got a little car already so he just sees that.” Corey is currently paying £160-a-month in driving lessons.

Caprinos Pizza, in Cross Heath, wants to open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays and 3am during the rest of the week. Fraudster uses dead dad's blue badge to get free Hanley parking

Fraudster Jacquline McGuire parked for free in a disabled parking bay - using her dead dad's blue badge. The 50-year-old had told a traffic warden she was picking up her dad after parking in the Hanley car park. But she returned nine minutes later without her dad and was once again challenged by the traffic warden. The traffic warden issued a parking fine. A Stoke-on-Trent City Council investigation found the blue badge displayed on the Birch Terrace car park belonged to her dead dad.

Councillors have dismissed concerns over the impact of falling house prices and given approval to a children’s care home. In total 17 residents raised objections to the scheme which will turn a detached Cheddleton bungalow into a care home for three children. At the planning committee meeting councillors were told that the home on Woodlands Avenue will be centred around children with mild to moderate learning difficulties, special educational needs, behavioural challenges, and mild disabilities.

A Staffordshire MP has urged Chancellor Rachel Reeves to back upgrades to a busy East to West Midlands route ahead of the government's spending review. Stoke-on-Trent school marks 50 years in same building

A Stoke-on-Trent school has taken a week off the normal curriculum in order to celebrate the centenary and once more it ties in with a milestone for the school. Pupils at St Paul’s C.E Primary School in Longton have been learning more about the city and its history and treating themselves to oatcake tasting. The school earlier this year celebrated 50 years since the building was constructed and at the time was called Edensor Middle School and was officially opened on 25 March 1975.
