    A golf club is demanding council action - to stop members being driven away by anti-social behaviour. Off-road bikers are churning up Burslem Golf Club after getting on the course via an existing Stoke-on-Trent City Council right of way off Salkeld Place. The club had installed a temporary scaffolding structure to try to keep the bikers out. But the club was ordered to take it down - or risk prosecution.

    Almost 12,000 council house tenants have complained about living in damp and mouldy properties in a 17-month period. Data from Stoke-on-Trent City Council shows complaints had been received from tenants in 11,955 properties between August 2023 and January this year. The complaints resulted in 16,595 jobs - including mould washing, painting, plastering, and fan repairs - being completed. Seventy-two tenants have had to leave their homes due to the state of the properties.

    Canal improvement works costing £40,000 have been approved for Lichfield. As a result, a stretch of the Coventry Canal towpath between New Bridge on Gorse Lane to Fradley Junction will see repairs to the embankment. Lichfield District Council said the works would be funded by a Section 106 agreement, secured with a housing developer in 2013 when 750 houses at Fradley Park received planning permission.

    A 17-year-old has had his driving test cancelled at the last minute - and now has a new date in late September. Corey Bloor had been booked in for his Wednesday, June 4 test for four months. But it was cancelled on Monday due to a lack of examiners. Now the Cheadle teenager has to wait until September 29 for his test. Dad Steve said: “He’s devastated - really, really gutted. He’s got a little car already so he just sees that.” Corey is currently paying £160-a-month in driving lessons.
