The concession stand at Burlington's Oakledge Park is getting a beachy upgrade. In late May or early June, local food trailer biz So-Full Sisters will open at the park, serving iced lattes, breakfast sandwiches, salads, snow cones and its popular waffle bowls.

Agri-Mark, the Waitsfield company that owns Cabot Creamery,
issued a voluntary recall for a single lot of Cabot Creamery premium butter this week. The recall, announced on Wednesday, April 9, was due to internal "finished product testing revealing an elevated level of coliform bacteria," the company said in a statement.

West Hartford residents Nate Aldrich and Katie Hanscom, both industry veterans, searched for several years — in several towns — before landing on the former Tacocat Cantina spot.

Two and a half years after joining Hula as a member, Clarina Cravins, 34, is running the restaurant at the Burlington coworking space. Preppi Market and Eatery officially opened the first week of April in the café space in the front building at 50 Lakeside Avenue.

The James Beard Foundation announced the finalists for its 2025 Restaurant and Chef Awards on Wednesday, April 2, with a Vermont bar, chef and duo of restaurateurs making the cut for the next round of this year's prestigious awards. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Chicago on June 16.

During the height of the pandemic, Pingala Café provided 58,000 free meals to food-insecure community members through Vermont Everyone Eats, a food relief and economic development initiative that connected those in need with ready-to-eat restaurant meals. Everyone Eats ended when federal funding ceased on March 31, 2023.

The restaurant at 24 Main Street in Winooski has gone from burgers to biryani. Grazers' third location — which moved into Tiny Thai's former spot at the bottom of the rotary in 2021 — closed two months ago, co-owner Sam Handy confirmed. Tikka House, an Indian restaurant owned by two young entrepreneurs, opened there on March 22.

Chris Johnson, owner and head baker of
Nomad Coffee in Burlington, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 21. He was 45. Johnson joined the Nomad team in August 2021, a few months after moving to Vermont from New York City, where he had been working for the inventor of the Cronut, Dominique Ansel. He purchased the coffee biz from its founders, Nicole Grinstead and Andrew Sepic, in fall 2023.

At the end of April, Citizen Cider's Pine Street pub will close its doors. By June, it will reopen at the cidery's Press House at 180 Flynn Avenue, bringing the entire operation under one roof. The Press House Pub will occupy a former showroom at the front of the warehouse building and have a large horseshoe bar. As on Pine Street, it will offer flights, full pours and cider cocktails.
